The National World War II Museum opened its doors on the 56th anniversary of the Normandy invasion that liberated Europe. It is the only museum in the United States that addresses all of the amphibious invasions or "D-days" of World War II, paying tribute to the more than one million Americans who took part. The museum presents their stories to an international audience, preserves material for research and scholarship, and inspires future generations to apply the lessons learned from the most complex military operation ever staged.

Exhibits:

The National World War II Museum's exhibits encompass the June 6, 1944 invasion of Normandy, the Home Front during WWII, and the D-Day Invasions in the Pacific. Exhibit galleries incorporate text panels, artifacts, and Personal Account stations in which visitors may listen to the stories of WWII veterans and others who supported the war effort.

Film Showings:

The Malcolm Forbes Theater shows two exclusive WWII films: D-Day Remembered (Normandy) and Price for Peace (the Pacific). These films, each about 45 minutes long, show daily on an alternating basis beginning with Price for Peace at 9:30 AM, D-Day Remembered at 10:30 AM and so on. A film is shown every hour on the half hour. Both films are also available for purchase in our Museum Store.

We recommend allowing at least 2-3 hours to view the Museum.
