Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts is a 16.3 acre complex of buildings, which serves as home for 12 arts organisations including the Juilliard School, Metropolitan Opera, New York City Ballet, New York City Opera, the American Ballet Theatre and the New York Philharmonic orchestra.

Seating 2,738 and the home of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra the Avery Fisher Hall opened as the Philharmonic Hall in 1962, but was renamed in 1973 in recognition of a $10.5m donation to the orchestra by Avery Fisher.

Today comprising of three performances halls, Carnegie Hall was financed by Andrew Carnegie, a Scots-born industrialist and businessman. Building work began in 1890 and a year later Tchaikovsky was one of the conductors at the five day opening festival. Still one of the world’s most acoustically superb venues, Carnegie Hall continues to attract world class performers of every artistic discipline.
